Planet In Focus
The 18th annual eco-documentary festival includes a diverse array of films about the environment and is a chance to celebrate leading activists. This year, PIF is launching a youth award named after late Sharkwater filmmaker and activist Rob Stewart and bringing guerrilla gardener Ron Finley to town for a screening of the 2015 film Can You Dig This?, about his community work in South Central, Los Angeles. Other highlights from the film program include Bart Simpsons Brasilia: Life After Design, Timothy Wheelers Poached and Aya Domenigs The Day The Sun Fell.
Screenings take place at Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema, the Royal, the Revue, Innis Town Hall and the Al Green Theatre at MNJCC. October 20-22. $10-$20, festival pass $70. nowtoronto.com/planetinfocus.
